Sleep Paralysis

Pen, Photoshop Painting
Horror phone wallpaper with staring monsters.

This phone wallpaper showcases my crosshatching illustration style. The minimal color scheme creates a sense of dread and fear.

Mob Mentality

Pans, Markers

An Illustrative piece utilizing my crosshatching techniques, inspired by Virgil Finlay and Robert Crumb.

Monsters, Portals, and Villains

Pen

One can see how I am developing my illustrative style through utilizing crosshatching and contour lines. I challenged myself to refrain from crosshatching in every area. Depending on the surface texture, I would sometimes use cross contour lines that are applied in one direction (hence the monster's fangs). I am also pushing myself to improve my eye for composition. The comic was conjured up in my imagination and features me being chased by a monster. With intricate pen techniques and simple gradients, the illustration exhibits a graphic yet complex feel.

My goal was to create a piece that incorporates the numerous pen techniques I have learned. I used this opportunity to experiment with contour lines and line weights. Without using color, I challenged myself to create a sense of dimension, distance, and exaggerated perspective. Inspiration was drawn from observing bones, studying the techniques utilized by Virgil Finlay, and the Magic The Gathering card game. The illustration provides much to look at considering the intricacies of the ribs, clouds, and lightning.

This sci-fi piece is a Photoshop-heavy project where I spliced together and manipulated 9+ photos (free for commercial use). The graphic draws inspiration from space travel, cathedrals, and environments from the Halo universe.

Meeting Om

Meeting Om

A Photoshop-heavy design piece inspired by Eben Alexander's near death experience. The graphic draws inspiration from the divine being ("Om"), Eben's questions regarding consciousness, his travels through different realms, and the visions he had while in a coma.

Bolt Crab

Photoshop Painting

This monster design draws inspiration from insects and microscopic organisms. This project served as an opportunity to experiment with textures and detail as it relates to the foreground and background.
